Advanced Appearance Staff Train to Save a Life
The team at Advanced Appearance have recently completed a First Aid course, to ensure we have the basic skills needed to deal competently with accident or injury in the workplace and know when to seek medical advice. Not only will this provide a safer working environment but it will reassure our customers that we know what to do in an emergency.
The training course was a big eye opener for us and we came to realise how important a defibrillator is in a life-threatening situation, not just for us but for our customers and the local community.
What is a defibrillator?
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable life saving device that diagnoses cardiac arrest and treats it by sending electric shocks to the patient’s heart as required. The shocks can restore the heart to its normal rhythm, thus saving the person’s life.
Often, cardiac arrest occurs without any prior warning and left without treatment, most victims will not survive. In fact, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chances of survival by up to ten percent.
This is why we believe having an AED accessible and being trained in basic first aid is so important.
Fundraising to Purchase an AED
Given the alarming statistics about cardiac arrest and following on from our first aid training, we are aiming to raise £1100.00 to purchase a defibrillator that will serve the Hawthorn Road Traders Association and its community.
This will help to protect Advanced Appearance staff, our customers when they come in for treatment, and members of the local community.
